About Bethel #48

Bethel 48 is 40 yrs old. Our Bethel was originally Located in Buckner, Missouri. Our ceremonies took place in the facilities of Fort Osage High School 31 daughters were initiated, and our first corps of officers and our Guardian Council were installed. The first HQ was Sandra Williamson. Mrs. Cleo Hilderbran and Mr. Cecil Baker served as the first BG and AG. The GG of Missouri at this time was Mrs. Idakatherine Schenk and Mr. Alfred E. McDaniel was the AGG. Our charter is dated Sept. 13, 1958.

The first Grand Session that Bethel 48 attended was held in St. Louis on April 24-26, 1959. Our first Official Visit was on March 7, 1960, by Mrs. Ina Jane Bryan, GG and Mr. Wilbur Gebauer, AGG. On Feb. 1, 1960, Bethel 48 received its first traveling award. They were presented the Traveling Dove by Bethel 42 of Belton, Missouri.

Bethel 48 met at the Masonic Temple in Buckner, Missouri until the Spring of 1972. On April 2, 1972, we held our first meeting at our new location, the Blue Springs Masonic Temple. Bethel 48 continues to hold its regular meetings on the first and third Mondays at 7:00 P.M. at the Blue Springs Masonic Temple.

Bethel #48 Trivia:

In 1958, the cost of robes was $3.00 for factory and $2.00 for a homemade. Bethel 48 acquired their first insurance policy for paraphernalia on Feb. 15, 1960. They purchased $750.00 worth of insurance through the Masons. Bethel 48 participated in the AGG, Mr. Charles Chaney's skits at Grand. Also, in the installations of GBHQ, Jenny Lynn Wycoff and GG, Virginia Baker Kernes.
