January, 2008 Posted Thursday, 1/31/2008 (7:45 p.m.): This note comes from Momma Donna, GG, regarding an OV cancellation: Hi all, After talking with Peggy the BG of Bethel #40 I have decided to postpone their official visit scheduled for tomorrow night. Due to possible ugly weather and the fact that several members of their Bethel have been or are sick right now I think another date will be more positive. Peggy is checking with her Temple and I will get with my people and we will publish the new date as soon as we know when it will be held! There has been no decision to change Bethel 34 at this time but I will keep you posted. Love, Posted Thursday, 1/31/2008 (4:30 p.m.): This note comes from Donna Crabtree with the latest update on Arthur Crabtree, DoFR #33: Great news! Arthur is finally home!! He had spinal fluid leaking from where they did his lumbar puncture. Apparently, the ER doctors couldn't figure this out! Our family doctor took one look at him, and knew immediately what was going on. He went back into the hospital and had a "blood patch" (where they take your own blood and put it back in the same hole as the lumbar puncture). That did the trick! In three hours, he was getting better. He came home last night, and was feeling much better. He will be off work for several more weeks recuperating. He still has a slight headache, but nothing what he was going through. He is able to sit up and talk, walk, and finally eat a little bit. Thanks to all the calls, cards, visits by family and friends. You all have kept his spirits high! Hopefully in the next week or two, he should be able to venture out of the house. Thanks again to all! Love, Posted Tuesday, 1/29/2008 (2:35 p.m.): This note comes from Momma Donna Goede, regarding a variety of subjects: Congratulations to Bethels 29, 7, and UD who all welcomed new members this past weekend. Way to GO! While I was at Lebanon the folks there gave me several items of clothing that were found following their institution. I have a green jacket, blue shirt and black skirt. If anyone is missing these items, please let me know and we will see they are returned. Please watch the website for possible updates regarding the Official Visits planned for Friday and Saturday of this week (Bethels 40 and 34), I understand the weather forecasters have predicted accumulating snow so we will watch road conditions. See
everyone soon! Posted Tuesday, 1/29/2008 (2:30 p.m.): This note comes from Mom Ginny Goede, GS, regarding Mom Cindy Brock, Grand Guide: Our Grand Guide, Cindy Brock, is in Belton Research Hospital, Room 231B. The Doctor thought it was a kidney infection and has been treating it for about two weeks with no success. They are now running tests to determine what is causing her problems. She knows she will be in the hospital until at least Wednesday, if not longer. Please send cards to her home: 22405 E. 291st St., Harrisonville, MO. 64701. Posted Tuesday, 1/29/2008 (2:25 p.m.): This note comes from Donna Crabtree with the latest update on Arthur Crabtree, DoFR #33: Well, all, we are back in the hospital. Arthur has had it rough since he left the hospital. He is now back in NKC Hospital in room 860. He is not contagious, it is more for pain control. He will have a blood patch put across the hole in his spine. Right now, he has fluid leaking from his spine. He is having severe headaches and can not sit up or walk. If this does not work, then we will be working with the pain management doctors and neurologists to see what we can do to ease his pain. The number to call is 816-691-1860. Parker, PHQ, MM 32 Posted Thursday, 1/24/2008 (2:25 p.m.): This note comes from Donna Crabtree with an update on Arthur Crabtree, DoFR #33: Wish I could tell you we had great news about Arthur. He woke up this morning with a horrendous headache. He is able to keep food down, so he is not dehydrated anymore. He is trying Vicodin, but I have a feeling he's going to go back to Morphine. The swelling around his brain is getting worse again, so that means probably steroids. Doctor still has not come in yet, so we are at a stand still. We are still hoping to get him home today. Please keep him in our thoughts and prayers, they are definitely working! Will keep everyone posted on his progress! Donna Here is a further update at 2:50 p.m. YEAH! He's a home now. He had the coxsaxie virus. He is still very ill, but nothing they could do at the hospital for him. He's having a rough day with headaches and all. Doctor said it could be up to 14 days for the swelling to go down. He won't be back to work until he can move his head side to side and up and down without pain. Right now, he's resting comfortably and playing on the computer at home. I will let everyone know more as we know it. He's had a rough time of it, and needs all the help he can get to get better. Jobie
